International Posse
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The In/P (International Posse) is one of Florida's largest and most violent gangs. The gang originated in the Miami area of South Florida in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a break dancing crew.
[edit] Background
The gang identifies itself with the Folk Nation and its symbols, and the colours blue and white. They also have their own hand sign which is displayed by connecting the middle and ring fingers with the thumb and putting up the index and pinky fingers.
In recent years they have spread outside of Florida, being found in Detroit, MI and other midwest cities. However some sets are known as "outlaw", which means they have no affiliation with the Folk Nation, they show this by doing the Folk Nation hang sign up with one and down with the other, a common way of showing disrespect for the group. HOMESTEAD is the 1st chapter of IN/P. The streets of HOMESTEAD are ran by the IN/Ps,their rivals are mostly local gangs like the toys, dsm, redland rats, adg, deuce mobb,nig-nigs,crips,bloods,latin kings, jonbays, and 288st outlaws.
[edit] Development
The gang began in Miami, Florida in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It soon, however, began to evolve into a gang because of their growing friendship with the well established gang the Latin Kings, who arrived in Miami from Chicago.
Soon the relationship between the Latin Kings and the In/P dissolved and turned into a growing resentment because of their relation with the Latin Queens, the female version of the Latin Kings gang. In response to their problems with the Latin Kings, the In/P joined the Folk Nation, because the Latin Kings belonged to the People Nation.
