International Pernambuco Conservation Initiative

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Pernambuco Conservation Initiative, or IPCI, is a group of bowmakers seeking solutions to the increasing rarity of Brazilwood, or Pernambuco. This wood, which is the favourite material of violin bows, is obtained from an endangered species, Caesalpinia echinata. Trade of the wood could be banned in the near future.
