International Friendship Day

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

International Friendship Day is celebrated annually, on the first Sunday of August, in several countries. It was initially declared a holiday in honour of friends in the United States by the U.S. Congress in 1935. However, it has since become known as merely a Hallmark Holiday, as it has been exploited by the greeting card industry to boost sales.
