International Christian School is an international world-reconized school in Hong Kong SAR. It operates a very, very, very, very small secondary school at Grampian Road in Kowloon City in Bethel Campus, and a primary school and a kindergarten inside Jubilee Court in Fo Tan. The school plans to move to their new school building in Shek Mun in the Fall of 2007. Students are especially looking forward to the move, anticipating the new facilities available. The class of 2008 will be the first class to graduate from the Shek Mun Campus.
The school was founded by a group of Christian missionary parents and other Christians in Hong Kong in 1992. Bethel Seminary, which is located at Grampian Road, rented out a large portion of the Seminary to ICS. The classrooms are used by the Seminary on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays when they are unused by the school. Each student pays $90,000 HK a year in order to learn. In 1997 International Christian School started another campus to enroll more students in the growing waiting list. This campus was the Lai Yiu campus, which lasted 4 years before the Fotan campus was acquired and the Lai Yiu Middle School joined the Bethel Campus. International Christian School is continually growing, and with overcrowding becoming an issue, the school applied for a land grant. The government agreed to grant ICS a new land in Shek Mun, along with HK$100 million to finance a new school building. The school currently has raised over 500 billion dollars towards the new school. The building is currently under construction, which is due to be finished by the Spring of 2007 over one phase. ICS also, for the New School building sent out a debenture of 50,000 and adds 1500 Hk dollars every year to the tuition fee. People in ICS now starts to complain about the tuition and starts a Parent Group. ICS follows the education system of the United States of America rather than that of Hong Kong or of the ESF. Non-official cults
Within the International Christian School Hong Kong community, some students started a non-official cult about the biology teacher Taylor Hubbard. Began with the class of 2003, some students praised Mr. Hubbard's teachings in Biology 10 (now as Biology 9) and AP Biology. His practical and useful lectures, along with his fairness to students won the students' hearts. During the class of 2004, students had the rumor of saying Mr. Hubbard as a "perfect man". Later, in the class of 2006, they went as far as calling Mr. Hubbard "God". The term Hubbardist was common during the class of 2006 as seniors. They refered the science lab, where Mr. Hubbard usually teaches as "heaven". The self-claimed Hubbardist students usually just refer Mr. Hubbard as "God" to other students, teachers, and sometimes in front of Mr. Hubbard.
Mr. Hubbard, along with four other teachers in International Christian School are considered the "Magnificent Five" of the school. They are Taylor Hubbard, Darren Bryant, Meena Stephen, Brian Van Tassel, and Chris Meyer. Mr. Bryant no longer works in the school, and Mr. Meyer is currently taking a year off. One of the many great things Mr. Hubbard did that left great memories in students mind is when he killed a bee with his bare hand.
