International Astronomical Youth Camp

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Astronomical Youth Camp (IAYC) is an annual summer camp for young people with an interest in astronomy. Established in 1969, the IAYC has taken place in over 30 different places in Europe, North Africa and the Near East. The main goal of this summer camp is, besides having fun in doing astronomy together, to bring people together from different regions of the world by encouraging them to work together and learn more about science and its methods.

Since 1969 more than 1500 young people have taken part in the IAYC. The 42nd IAYC took place in Třemešek, Czech Republic, from July 16th until August 5th, 2006.

On the IAYC website, it was announced that the 43rd camp will be held from July 29th until August 18th, 2007. For various reasons (e.g. success of the previous camp), it will take place in Třemešek again, although this is a highly exceptional situation.
