Interisland Airlines is an airline based in Manila, the Philippines. It operates non-scheduled passenger and cargo charter services within the Philippines and Asia.

Interisland Airlines is the newest Philippine airline and as such is considered as a modern airline. It is notable for being the only Philippine airline flying jet aircraft directly to Boracay.

The airline began operating as an air taxi company, Interisland Air Services, in 1986. In 2004 it acquired two Yakovlev Yak-40 aircraft and in December 2004 started operations as Interisland Airlines.

[edit] Incidents and accidents

  • On 2 November 2006, Interisland Airlines Flight 213, a Yakovlev Yak-40 travelling from Malay to Manila, a few minutes before taking off from Godofredo P. Ramos Airport the tire of the front landing gear of the plane burst while taxing on the runway. The only runway of the airport were closed for about 2 hours due to the incident, flights that were going to land were instructed to divert to the nearby Kalibo Airport, and departing flights were delayed. After about 2 hours the tires of the front landing gear of the plane were replaced with new ones and Flight 213 arrived Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila safely.
