Intelsat Americas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Intelsat Americas, is the redesignation given to the several Telstar satellites serving North America following their sale to Intelsat by Loral Space & Communications in 2001.
This new designation is applied to the Telstar satellites serving the United States:
- Telstar 5 (now Intelsat Americas 5)
- Telstar 6 (now Intelsat Americas 6)
- Telstar 7 (now Intelsat Americas 7)
- Telstar 8 (now Intelsat Americas 8)
- Telstar 13 (operated with EchoStar Communications' EchoStar 9) (now Intelsat Americas 13)
The Telstar satellites that do not directly serve the United States retain their original Telstar designation.
