[edit] Silipedia
You moved Pashtun to Silipedia? I don't understand.—iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 03:44, Nov 16, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Moving Pashtuns to Silipedia
- Copied from: User talk:iFaqeer
Faqueer: I just don't get it -! I took a lot of time getting the references and putting together prose that politely explained why Swatis should not be listed in the main tribe listing because they are a mixture of tribes that are already mentoined on the tribal listing. I even had a reference to the discussion page. And yet no-one bothered to give me a counter argument or anything - just simply deleted what I wrote as if they owned the page !! Is this Wikipedia a Joke?? Or is it meant to be a free online encyclopedia?
I even asked "Others" to intervene when "this guy" removed my additions to Pashtun, because there should be an explanation. Noone bothered. Hence I followed the Pashtun code of Badal and did the same - These tribal wars are spilling over into the Interent!!
The only way we can stop this is in future is to back statements with references. Otherwise Wikipedia is really a joke and doesnot have anything that you could challenge people with. Because word does get around.
There are people on thie Site, like yourself who are putting up good work, but the credibility of the site is being tested now. It is a critical time to act. Otherwise everything you do on this site is "just a waste of time"
I don't know how to revert on Wikipedia what I orginally wrote over the weekend. But if YOU do, as a neutral party that would prevent the "feud" from escalting. I hope it works and we can together make Wikipedia an site to be reckoned with.
Best wishes as always,
Insaaf.
[edit] Page move
Do not move pages to inappropriate names; this is considered vandalism. You can be blocked for such behaviour, and will if it continues. Please read the helpful links towards the top of this page if you wish to make serious contributions. -- Infrogmation 05:33, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I already talked to Insaaf about this. Please do not consider it vandalism unless the behaviour is repeated.
- Insaaf, from the point of view of honor, please understand that things like this will not just be action against the person that did something you disagreed with, but an action against Wikipedia and the community.—iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 00:20, Nov 19, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Please read before you take action on current revert
Someone has taken out your comment on Swatis from the Pakhtun page. I would suggest we put in a note on Swatis at the end of the list of tribes, link it to the Swati page and take your content and merge it with that page. Either way, let's discuss this before you take action.—iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 23:34, Nov 19, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Effort at consensus
As I'm sure you can see, I've been trying to achieve a version of Pashtun that may get consensus. I take it that you advocate the patrilineal definition. Can I assume that your concerns, at least, are satisfied? I'm not sure what I can do about the anonymous editor on the other side, and I wish he would simply strengthen the documentation for the other view rather than edit out the claims of the side he disagrees with. -- Jmabel | Talk 03:44, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC)
- I am not sure whether you are talking to me. I really don't have a dog in this fight, so to speak. Except that the Pashtuns are part of the picture from my part of the world and I strongly believe that if there are several strongly held points of view on a topic, the job of an encyclopedia is to, as far as possible and practical, capture and present them all in as objective a fashion as possible. For too long, modern encyclopedias have been from one cultural perspective or another. I believe Wikipedia is a unique chance to get a more complete picture in place. My view on the Swati issue is therefore that if some consider them a bona fide tribe and others do not, we need to say that—and present clearly why each group hold their respective view.—iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 04:21, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC)
