Who are these people whose 'popular belief' is that Inspectors in GB police are all detectives?
- It's a common mistake in American fiction, probably largely fuelled by a diet of Sherlock Holmes. -- Necrothesp 00:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
I had a question . . is there a spelling change to the word when a female is an inspector? does it then become an inspectress? The reason i ask is because i saw a posting online for an inspectress/inspector job position and wondered if that was a real word. -- Thenewbritish 13:07, 2 June 2006
- It is a real word, but is very rarely seen. A female police inspector has always been called an inspector (in the UK, at least). -- Necrothesp 01:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
