[edit] please do not edit badly
Recent edits and vandalism have been near fatal with this page now nominated for deletion. This is your fault I.P address' 81.179.111.81 ,195.10.45.232 and 150.237.47.3. Wiki is not the place for your stupid complaints about Rual and how much you hate FFX, try a web-forum! Bad edits which mention usernames of no note or take petty differences from the game and aim to broadcast them here will be reverted to this current version. And as for that idiotic vandalism....
[edit] cult game
Although cult game has no entry I think it is a better description than cult game. Based on the information on the Cult page the idea of a 'cult game' has very different connotations than a cult. Just like the phrase 'cult movie' doesn't make people think of hate groups like the word cult alone might.
Dont reckon its cult anymore? - theres over 600 players on line most of time now! - br

How does the timing work? Even if you close the browser, it will still count.
[edit] five character passwords?
I thought the passwords all have six characters, not five! Mine has six. 71.32.59.159 09:11, 9 January 2006 (UTC) Yes, your right! Bjrobinson 10:05, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Problems of colonising
Summary: Small people get kicked in the head because of a game-engine that allows it, and the people doing the kicking are so much more powerful that the smaller one always loses. It is highly unlikely that a smaller player would be able to amass enough isles to be able prevent themselves from getting kicked, so there remains a stable handful of "elite" people who pretty much do as they please.
More detailed explanation: Inselkampf has currently no restrictions in attacking other players, which means that the bigger players have the ability to pick on smaller players to any extent they want to. As isles are the most important commodity in Inselkampf, stealing isles occurs quite often. What makes all this problematic is that since there is no game-imposed limit, usually the smaller players get more or less eradicated, depending on how much they try to struggle. To make matters worse, Inselkampf doesn't have options available that could be used to implement any sort of tactics in combat. The attacking and defending troops are simply compared to one another, and the bigger number wins. There is slight variation in the winning margin, but in most cases it is neglible. The usual scenario goes something like this: a player builds up their isle, and eventually colonises an isle. Someone much bigger decides to steal this colony, and since the stealer has -for example- 20 isles, the smaller player has no chances. The bigger player can produce troops and ships at a 10-fold rate compared to the smaller player. Thus, no matter what the smaller player does, they lose. Given that isles are somewhat rare, this happens all the time. All this results in a very rigid power structure, where the big boys sit on top, and a steady stream of new players registers, gets stomped to the ground, and leaves, giving the big boys a few more isles to produce their armies.
- Yes, well its hard to disagree, but then this is wikip not the insel forums you should post this there. This isn't the place for it but... I have generally found with diplomacy and tact i have kept my modest empire. Imho it tends to be the smaller palyers that steal islands off of each other; the largest players know the best way to get islands is not by piracy but by waiting for the 'tsunami'. - I agree that this is somewhat griping in tone, but I also think that this should be noted in the article as it is after all a part in the game. To counter your claim about largest players, I know for certain that atleast Debello, Wraith and Empire (all top 5 alliances, I might add) all harbour aggressive players who do steal isles on a regular basis. As for diplomacy, unless you have a "big brother" who is a powerful player you really stand rather small chances of keeping what you have if someone from the top decides to take your colonies. Some of these people really need no reason to attack, beyond just you having something that can be stolen. 84.248.219.200 03:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] could use more international info
This article could use some information about IK play on foreign servers. There was a mention of the number of players on the German servers, but when it comes to the community and such pretty much all the information pertains to the .co.uk community. Wasn't/isn't there also a Czech server? The German Wikipedia had an article about IK but it was deleted. It would flesh the article out if some relevant international info could be added. 01:09, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] statue builders
The statue builders section seems unencyclopedic to me... I will remove it. 65.101.177.17 08:39, 7 July 2006 (UT
yes sorry it is slightly unencyclopedic but it is commonly known in the game
[edit] Notability
Someone removed the notability tag from the article citing the AfD (which ended as no consensus) as evidence. I should point out that the AfD actually didn't make any actual objective claims of notability other than it has as many players as a small village. The debate basically consisted of two people discussing subjectively whether or not the number of people involved was significant. I don't see any reliable sources mentioned anywhere, which are pretty important for verifiability. --Wafulz 16:54, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
