Instrumental value

Instrumental values are values like ambition, courage, persistence, politeness etc. They are not the end but a mean of achieving Terminal values.
Basic Conviction that a specific mode of conduct is preferable over an opposite or converse mode of existence. These differ from Terminal values which are convictions about the end state of existence, rather than the means.

can be compared with the concept of intrinsic value, as something that has value not in money. This is commonly used in the idea of presservation of public lands.
A fundamentalist perspective by which any means may be suffered in order to achieve a desired end
