The newly established center spans an area of 35 acres and has a completely Wi-Fi campus. The institute offers post graduation courses in various fields of business and also offers specialisation in IT. Some parts of the campus are under construction and it should be completed accordong to plan in the current financial year.
The campus has wi-fi LAN enabled hostels and academic blocks, the internet connection comes through a 2mbps optic fibre line from BSNL and similarly distributed to the access points in the campus .
The Nagpur campus is the second campus of IMT after the one in Ghaziabad, the third being the one in Dubai.The institute had its first batch of students graduate in 2006.

IMT Ghaziabad was established in 1980 by industrialist Mahendra Nath, Institute of Management Technology was envisioned to be a center of excellence in the field of management education in India that will help the Indian industry in matching the Western standards.
The institute envisions to give its students the best of facilities that can be made available in India. It's recruiting eminent faculty and also has guest lecturers coming from eminent institutes. The institute is dependent on CAT for selection of students and currently sets a cut off percentile of around 90 for its selection criteria which includes a GD and an Interview for final selection. The courses are AICTE approved and have a curriculum which is designed to cover all aspects of a business as per the specialisation chosen.

Convocation 2006 was a high profile affair as Industrialist Ratan Tata delivered the convocation address where he congratulated the students and urged them to take their place as leaders by upholding principles and values, leading by example, having vision combined with boldness, passion for what they did and humility. He also reminded the students of the social obligations of contributing to the upliftment of the millions of rural Indians
The ceremony also saw Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Government of India as well as President of IMT gaving away awards to the students.

The Director of the institute, Dr. Anwar Ali called the year 2005 - 2006 a very eventful one for IMT, Nagpur, that saw it emerging from a virtually unknown entity to one which is now very widely known in the corporate, academic and student communities. He spoke of the additions made to the faculty strength, as well as of the upgradations made in the infrastructure and facilities. He also spoke of the research and publications, summer training, placements, and MDPs organized by IMT, Nagpur.
