Insect bite

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Insect bites and stings can cause an immediate skin reaction often resulting in redness and swelling in the injured area. The bite from fire ants and the sting from bees, wasps and hornets are usually painful. Wasps can bite and sting at the same time. Bites caused by mosquitoes, fleas and mites are more likely to cause itching than pain.[citation needed] Sometimes a sting can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction anaphylaxis.
