Inoue Enryo

Inoue Enryo (井上円了 Inoue Enryō?, March 18, 1858 - June 6, 1919), founder of Toyo University, was a Japanese educator, philosopher and Buddhist.

Enryo was Japan's first scientific investigator of anomalous phenomena. To enlighten his fellow countrymen, he authored a six-volume A Study of Yōkai (妖怪学). As a result, he was best known as Dr. Ghost or Dr. Yōkai.

It is worthy to note that the Chinese translation of The Study of Yōkai (妖怪學講義) was being done by another famous Chinese educator, philosopher and the Chancellor of Peking University: Dr. Cai Yuanpei.
