Ingo Rademacher

Ingo Rademacher (born April 22, 1971 in Iserlohn-Letmathe, West Germany; raised in Australia), is a noted television actor. He has portrayed the role of Jasper "Jax" Jacks on the daytime soap opera General Hospital almost continuously since 1996. During a one-year break, he appeared on the short-lived prime time soap opera "Titans".

The character of Jax, a suave tycoon, has been involved with a succession of General Hospital characters, most notably that of Brenda Barrett, played by Vanessa Marcil. The triangle of Brenda, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Jax proved captivating to viewers.

There are constant rumors implying that he will soon be leaving the show. "I am burnt out," Rademacher told the Australian publication The Sunday Mail. "All I have done in the last 10 years is go to work. [If I leave GH] I don't know if I want to stay in America, it's very corporate. I do want to have a farm where I can just veg out." The show has recently sent out a casting call for a character named "Hugo", which many think will turn out to be a recast for Jax. As of June 2006, Rademacher is on vacation at his home in Hawaii for a period of time "while his reps, hopefully, hash out an agreement with the [General Hospital's] execs for his return shortly thereafter. . . both parties are very close to reaching an agreement that would. . . [afford] Rademacher some free time (which we hear was his sticking point)." - ABC Soaps In Depth, July 4, 2006.

Rademacher was 10 and his sister Anne was 12 when the family moved from Germany to a goat ranch and vegetable farm in New South Wales, Australia. After four years of droughts and floods, they packed up and settled in coastal Queensland, where natural athlete Ingo surfed, sailed and rode horses. He did not do well in school, however; he enrolled in Brisbane University, but dropped out after six months.

After a stint in modeling, he found his true calling in the acting profession. His first role was the character of surfer Sean Hayden in the Australian soap opera Paradise Beach. After the show was cancelled, he moved to Los Angeles in 1994. His former "Paradise Beach" co-star, Jaason Simmons, who appeared on Baywatch, hooked him up with a place to stay in Los Angeles

Soon, GH producer Wendy Riche saw his audition tape for the soap opera The City and immediately cast him as Jax.

He lives in Pacific Palisades, California.
