Template talk:Infobox Kommun

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To Do:

  • a field with coordinates
  • a field with the home page.
  • Upload all coat of arms. However some are copyrighted while others are not, thus some can be uploaded to commons while others can not.

These should somehow be automatically derived from a list.

See Swedish Wikipedia.

The latest design changes by User:Catnus seem to improve the template. As Cantus seems to have been labelled a "vandal" his edits were reverted, but I would still like to raise the question if we should use the layout he suggested. --Fred-Chess 17:56, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

I am doubtful that the recently added top note is an effective solution to the "X Kommun versus X town" problem. Not only is it (in my view) just rubbing salt in the wound by drawing attention to an unsatisfactory state of affairs but it looks out of place where it is.

I have been doing some work recently on the wording of these Swedish kommun articles (having spent some time reading a great number of them!) and I hope to be able to post some remarks on the subject by way of constructive criticism soon. -- Picapica 20:31, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

It sounds nice; I will be looking forward to it!

The thing is, in many cases I haven't found anything of significance on the small towns in a municipality. There are even some municipalities that are non notable, with a population of a few thousands and no significant history. In those cases it seems much better to create at least one page about the municipality as a whole, so at least we have one interesting page, instead of creating 2 half pages. --Fred-Chess 11:44, July 28, 2005 (UTC)

Fred, I do realize the problems! (Thank you for not blasting me out of the water, BTW). Will post again on this subject at the weekend. Where would be the best place? -- Picapica 20:53, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

If it mainly concerns the template -- here. If it is about municipalities , perhaps at Talk:Municipalities of Sweden. --Fred-Chess 20:49, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
Meanwhile, some discussion has been conducted at Talk:Municipalities of Sweden.
Some cities have been split up -- as this template won't do for them, the municipalities are then using Template:Infobox_Kommun2 (while the city is not using a template at all.) Fred-Chess 07:57, August 23, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Map outlining municipalities of Sweden

The "Map outlining municipalities of Sweden" comment under the images is no longer suitable in most cases since a system of a "Counties in Sweden" map and "Municipalities in County" map combination seems to be used for most municipalities. /Lokal Profil 23:21, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
