Infraclass (zoology)

In zoology, an infraclass is a further subdivision of a subclass, but it is rarely used. The next rank below the infraclass would be the Order or Superorder. For example:

• Phylum Arthropoda
  • Subphylum Crustacea
    • Class Maxillopoda
      • Subclass Thecostraca
        • Infraclass Cirripedia (barnacles)
