Infinity Ward, located in Encino, California, is a computer game developer founded by the former employees of 2015, developers of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. The studio was acquired by Activision in October 2003.

[edit] The Call Of Duty Community

On October 22nd, 2005, Infinity Ward released its first console title ever, Call Of Duty 2 for Xbox360 and PC. Which was a follow up to their debut release and game of the year, Call Of Duty for PC. Chosen to be a launch title for the first next generation gaming console Xbox 360, Call Of Duty 2 quickly became the #1 most played Xbox360 title on Xbox Live since launch according to reports released by Microsoft on a weekly basis.

Since its launch in November, and its award winning success on both platforms, Infinity Ward has continued support of the title through next generation content downloads and patches in addition to the release of the Game Of The Year edition for Xbox 360 consoles which included a bonus DVD and code to download the Skirmish Map Pack from Xbox Live. Included in the multiple content downloads via Xbox Live were three multiplayer map pack downloads, totaling nine new multiplayer maps over all. Leaving Call Of Duty 2 at a total of 22 multiplayer maps, more than any other multiplayer game to date.

In an ever on going effort to enhance and extend the gaming experience of its titles and community, Infinity Ward has released multiple patches and updates to its titles to include community requested features and fixes, in addition to new content and multiplayer maps. In addition Infinity Ward has announced development of an innovative new community driven website for its community which will allow a streamline of information, communication, resources, and social networking within its gaming community. Infinity Ward has promised that the new website and advancements in its community relations will innovate the way developers and their respective communities interact among themselves and together.

[edit] Call of Duty 2 Worldwide Community Event

On Saturday, Sept. 9th, 2006 in conjunction with Xbox Live, Infinity Ward threw an international community event over Xbox Live and bi-coastal parties. Infinity Ward hosted a 250 gamer party in Los Angeles, CA while at the same time a twin party was being hosted in Miami, FL. Players not able to make the event could jump onto Xbox Live for a special Xbox event in conjunction with Microsoft with what would be the first Xbox All-Nighter. Gamers played from 7 pm - 7 am in one of the largest online gaming events in one night.

Fans at the Los Angeles, CA party had the opportunity to hang out and play with the developers, as well as win prizes every hour. The event was broadcasted via the Xbox Live Vision camera and several fan sites.

[edit] Call of Duty 2 Breaks Sales Records

Call of Duty 2 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system has sold more than one million units in the U.S. alone, according to NPD Funworld. In addition, Call of Duty 2 was the first Xbox 360 title to sell 1 million copies in the US.

The award-winning title is the # 1 best selling game on Xbox 360 and continues to be among the highest rated games for the platform, according to Gamerankings data.
