  i want to know some details about a indian passport, is it possible to find the passport is fresh one or dublicate by the first page of the passport? in the first page they mentioned type, what it means? type p indicates what? expecting related reply and web addreses.

[edit] Procedure for correction of Name in Passport

Hi, My passport currently has the word SURNAME striked off a I do not have a Surname. Also my Name and my Father's Name is mentioned in the Given Names Field. Because of a requirement for H1B visa filing, I require to put my Father's Name in the Surname field.

Please let me know the procedure to get this change done in my Passport. Note : I am not changing my Name, but changing the way I want to mention it in the passport.

My passport currently has a mistake in spelling of my surname,as of my records my last name is different from the name in my passport,Because of a requirement for H1B visa filing, I require to have my surname should be correct.

Please let me know the procedure to get this change done in my Passport. Thank You mamata
