Indiana State Road 4
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State Road 4 in the U.S. State of Indiana is in fact three different, disconnected surface highways in northern Indiana, although local highways that have never been part of the state highway system could in fact connect them. The westernmost, and longest (25 miles) section, connects LaPorte with Lakeville (junction US 31). It meets State Road 23 in North Liberty and has a short spur State Road 104.
The middle segment consists of a short (seven miles) connector between Indiana 13 and Goshen. The eastern segment of similar length connects Interstate 69 near Ashley westward to Helmer where it meets Indiana 327. Despite the low number, Indiana 4 is everywhere it exists a minor highway except to those who use it locally.
At the interchange between Interstate 69 and Indiana 4, the exit sign mentions Helmer, Ashley, and Hamilton; Indiana 4 has never reached Hamilton and that town must be reached on county roads.
