Founded in the year 1950, The Indian School, Bahrain was initiated by a small group of people with a committed workforce of three staff and a Headmistress and have completed fifty years of successful existence making significant contribution towards the cause of education.

Today the Indian School in Bahrain is one of the largest expatriate schools in the Persian Gulf region having a strength of six thousand students with two campuses at Sitrah and Isa Town.

The Indian School, Bahrain is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school mainly aims at providing education to children of Indian origin living in Bahrain, although students of other nationalities are also admitted. The school aims at inculcating in the students a sense of appreciation for Indian culture and traditions and infusing in them a sense of tolerance for other cultures and traditions without losing sight of their identity and their roots.

The famous South Indian actress Mamta Mohandas completed her schooling at the Indian School, Bahrain in 2002.
