In the Shadows is the third full-length album by Mercyful Fate. It is also the first offering of the band since their reunion in 1992. It is released in 1993 on Metal Blade Records. The album contains a bonus track, titled "Return of the Vampire" which was re-recorded with Lars Ulrich on drums. Although Snowy Shaw is listed in the booklet as the drummer, all drums were recorded by Morten Nielsen.
