"In Your Room" is Depeche Mode's thirtieth UK single, released on January 10, 1994 (January 18 in the USA), and the fourth and final single for the album Songs of Faith and Devotion.

The package is very special: It's a foldout digipak with room to hold 3 CDs, however only one is supplied with the original release, the others are dummys for the two limited editions (a remix one and a live one). When you fold the digipak out it shows Dave's famous stick-figure made by Anton Corbijn.

The 7" version of "In Your Room" is radically different from the original album version. The music is completely redone by Butch Vig of Nirvana fame. There's also the Brian Eno "Apex Mix", which sounds more like the album version. Another favorite is Johnny Dollar's "The Jeep Rock Mix", which appears on Remixes 81 - 04.

When played live in 1993 and early 1994, the album version was played. In mid 1994 and onwards, the Zephyr mix was played live.

The B-sides are remixes of "Higher Love" and some live tracks from the Devotional Tour.

The music video for "In Your Room" was directed by Anton Corbijn and features references to the I Feel You, Walking in My Shoes, Halo, Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus and Condemnation videos. The light bulb is always fixated at the top-center of the screen, but the size changes through-out the video. The video features a woman, who sometimes is not wearing any clothes. Rather than editing the video for the US, MTV didn't air the video at all, since the single was never really a hit in the US.

Incidentally, this is the last single with Alan Wilder as a member, and thus, this is the last music video with him in it.

On November 2, 1998, Depeche Mode (without Alan) played "In Your Room" (the Zephyr version), on The Late Show with David Letterman in support of The Singles 86>98. You can view it at the official Depeche Mode website.

In 2003, Fallon Bowman of Amphibious Assault covered the song for her debut LP District Six.
