Talk:Impact Theatre Co-operative

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I've started this page in honour of Impact Theatre. I only saw two of their productions, A Place in Europe and The Carrier Frequency, but both made a massive, long-lasting and searing impression upon me. This is all I know about them. I hope others can add more. --Richardrj 14:48, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm delighted that you've started this, but I've added the 'references' tag, because as it stands the article is not satisfactory for an encyclopaedia. The fact that you've got the list of people and shows (with dates) suggests that you have at least some reference, so please give it. I've Googled, but while there's lots of passing references to the company in biogs of its alumni, I haven't found anything substantial.
I remember The Carrier Frequency in its tank of water, and I've added a link to Russell Hoban, who wrote it; and seeing your list I immediately remembered some images from Dammerungstrasse 55, particularly the achingly sad vision of Steve Shill's long body curling slowly into fetal position.
The show I remember most clearly I don't think is one of those you listed, though it's possible it is Useful Vices - it started with an East London criminal gang doing a bank job, got lost on a canoe on the Amazon, and ended with half the cast showering a naked couple with feathers to the accompaniment of Vivaldi's Summer.

What set me looking for them was hearing an interview with Richard Hawley on Radio 4: I'm pretty sure that it's not the same Richard Hawley, (for one thing, the ITC Hawley would be well into his 50's now) but I'd like to know what happened to him. ColinFine 18:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm glad someone else remembers them! I've added the URL of the website from which I got the lists. Hope that will suffice for now but I'm not sure I've cited the reference correctly. --Richardrj 18:58, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I've corrected the title 'Dämmerungstrasse" (which is wrong on the Stan's Cafe website). ColinFine 22:08, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
