Improved Load Bearing Equipment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Improved Load Bearing Equipment is the United States Marine Corps' new pack designated to replace the existing ALICE and MOLLE packs currently in service. These packs were unable to suit the specialized needs of the Marine Corps. The ILBE is based upon COTS packs from Arc'teryx. The design features the Marines' digital MARPAT camouflage pattern printed onto it. It includes a main pack, a detachable assault pack and a 100-ounce hydration system. The ILBE can hold up to 120 pounds and has room for 60 and 81 mm mortar rounds outside the main pack. Specialized bags for corpsmen and reconnaissance units are also available. The pack is being fielded to deployed units as fast it can be made available.
