From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Maltese notable Imperia Gatto was the 4th Baroness of the Barony of Djar-il-Bniet e Buqana and a Baroness of Budaq. Her parents, Paola di Castelli suo Jure Heiress to the Barony of Buqana and Baron Francesco Gatto were married in 1397. Imperia had one half-sister, Paolo Gatto, who was an illegitimate child from her fathers slave mistress Meymuna. After her fathers death in 1442, Imperia succeeded his title and married the Spanish Baron Antonio Inguanez (died 1458), who was closely related to the royal Aragona family of Sicily. Antonio and Imperia produced not only descendants to most Maltese, Sicilian, Roman, Neapolitian nobility, but also royalty in Western Europe such as Queen Paola of Belgium, the Orleans-Bourbons, and Austria-Este.
Imperia had two sons with Antonio - Angeraldo Inguanez who became the 5th Baron of Djar il Bniet and Calcerano Inguanez, who married his niece Imperia Inguanez with issue.
