Imants Tillers

Imants Tillers (born 1950) is an Australian artist, born in Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture (Hons), from University of Sydney. In 1981, he began working at dividing existing works of art into squares, and transposing them using his own imagery onto many individual canvases. In 1986 he represented Australia in the Venice Biennale. Well known for paintings composed of a grid of many smaller canvases placed together, each canvas is numbered and all together now numbers into the tens of thousands.
