iLounge (formerly iPodlounge) is an independent website covering all things related to Apple's iPod digital audio player (DAP) and the related iTunes software. Founded by Dennis Lloyd in the days after Apple released their first generation iPod on October 23, 2001, iLounge has become the leading source of iPod information, assistance, news, and discussion. The website is updated daily with news, reviews, articles, previews, and tutorials.

[edit] Features

The site features a number of different areas.

News gets updated daily (Monday through Friday, sometimes on weekends) with anything iPod related and includes popular forum threads, new accessories, interesting stories, editorials relating to music and other musical and/or DAP news.

The first forum originally started when the first site opened and is still available to peruse through a link on the main forum page. The forums, which run a customized version of vBulletin, generate about 5 million page views while the main site generates over 15 million page views per month. As of August 2006 the site's forum is home to over 99,000 unique users.

The "iLounge Galleries" offer a spot for iPod users to upload their iPod-related photos. One particular album is the "iPods Around the World" gallery in which iPod-related photos taken in all seven continents, from the Americas, to Europe and Asia, Africa, and even Antarctica, are uploaded for other iLoungers to view. Currently, the iLounge Galleries boast over 7000 photos and images.

Tutorials, such as the "iPod 101/201" are intended to teach iPod owners how to fully take advantage of their device by showing them such things as adding album art to music tracks in iTunes or how to use the iPod as a hard disk.

The website also includes, "iLounge Backstage", a blog put together by the editors at iLounge in which they discuss other non-iPod gadgets, "Ask iLounge", a weekly question/answer session with readers and an "iPod buying guide" which is published twice a year.
