Ilkka Remes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ilkka Remes is a Finnish author, who has published thrillers and young adult literature. Remes' real name is Petri Pykälä (b. 1962 Luumäki). He has said he uses a pseudonym because he does not want to be considered only as a thriller writer, but wants to write something else in future.

Remes lives in Spain. He was awarded the Kalevi Jäntti Literature Award in 1997, Vuoden johtolanka Award of Suomen dekkariseura in 1999 (Clue of the Award of Finnish Detective Society) and the Olvi Foundation Literature Award in 1999.

The Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja commented in January 2001 on his home page, after reading the novel Ruttokellot, that many antagonists in Remes' thrillers seem to have something to do with Russia or Russians, and found it sad that it could be the reason why the novels are popular.[1] (see Russophobia).

Remes has written 12 thrillers. The novels are very popular in Finland. However, the books have not been translated into English. The names of the books in the list are direct translations.
