Ijzim

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ijzim, Palestine - a wealthy village in the Haifa district of historical Palestine. It is now part of Israel proper. The majority of its Arab inhabitants ended up living in Iraq after putting up a fierce fight against the Zionist/Israeli militia that took Haifa. Ijzim withstood the onslaught for over three months after Haifa fell. Many families from Ijzim include the Maadis, the Nabhanis and the Alhassans with the majority of the families derived from the Bani Nabhan tribe. Collectively, they owned over 40,000 dunams (40 kmĀ²) of land and were considered one of the richest villages in Palestine. Saleh Nabhan, of the aforementioned tribe, is connected to the attacks on a hotel and airliner in Mombasa, Kenya.
