The 2e arrondissement, located on the Right Bank, is the smallest of the 20 arrondissements of Paris, France. With the 8th, and 9th arrondissement, it partially hosts the most important business center of Paris, which is located around the Opéra. It is the most dense arrondissement in business activity with an average of 62,695 jobs per km².
The 2nd arrondissement hosts the Paris stock exchange, a large number of banking headquarters, and also the very busy textile district of Paris, known as the Sentier. The concert hall of the Opéra-Comique is also located in this arrondissement.

The peak of population of Paris 2nd arrondissement actually occurred before 1861, though the arrondissement exists in its current shape since the re-organization of Paris in 1860. In 1999, the population was of 19,585 inhabitants while the arrondissement was also hosting 61,672 jobs, and this despite a land area of only 0.992 km² (0.383 sq. miles). As a result, the 2nd arrondissement is the most concentrated in business activity.
