[edit] History

Igniz is 56 years old (from the official guide book), although his beauty makes him appear young for his age. According to the KOF 10th Anniversary Website, Igniz's place of origin is unknown, he uses a mode of combat called NESTS-style Boxing. His secretary's name is Misty, he's the CEO of NESTS. While he's essentially below the real president of NESTS, he's actually the Master of NESTS, succeeding the real president (whom he killed) since his death.

Igniz hosts the KOF 2001 tournament in hopes to become a new god, but his hopes were short-lived in spite of overpowering K' as Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami blasted Igniz with a double flame attack. Cursing his failure and realizing that he isn't a real replacement for a god after all, Igniz emits a suicide mission to destroy the planet as a demon. While the space station violently thrusted down the stratosphere, it landed to the ocean and its inhabitants survived the heat inside the space station not to mention that the planet was still in one piece (apparently thanks to Ron) and that Igniz is now dead. Thus ends the story of NESTS.

[edit] Trivia

  • Igniz is one of the SNK bosses who makes good use of the lack of the crouch animation to catch players off guard by making his attacks difficult to predict
  • When performing his signature move (The Brutal God Project), Igniz tells his opponent, "Owari. Nozomi Dourini, TEN KARA OCHIRO!!!", which in English means; "It's over. Now, as you seem to desire, I CAST YOU DOWN FROM HEAVEN!!!"
  • Igniz's theme song, I'm The Strongest, appears to share much of its melody with Original Zero's theme, except that Igniz's version is faster, and features prominent use of electric guitars. The theme's title derives from Igniz's self-image, and possibly a reference to his high level of difficulty, even when compared to other SNK bosses.
  • Seasoned Japanese voice-actor Norio Wakamoto provides Igniz's voice.
  • According to SNK, the character designer for KOF 2001 was given one simple instruction when designing Igniz; "make him hot!"
  • The final boss in Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, Goodman, bears a striking resemblance to Igniz.
  • Igniz is unlockable in the PS2 version of KOF 2001 by defeating 200 enemies in party mode.
