Ignatius Gymnasium

The Ignatius Gymnasium (Ignatiusgymnasium) is one of the three categorial gymnasia in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and is, together with the Vossius Gymnasium and the Barlaeus Gymnasium among the most prestigious schools in Amsterdam. It is located in the Jan van Eijckstraat in the affluent 'Oud-zuid' district of Amsterdam.
It is one of the few Catholic gymnasiums in the Netherlands, founded in 1895. Originally a Jesuit-run school, it is named after the founder of the Jesuit Order Ignatius of Loyola. The school is fairly small and has a student population of about 600 with 70 staff.
Alumni include beer magnate Freddy Heineken and television personality Ivo Niehe.
The school-newspaper is called De Harpoen.
