Idaho High School Activities Association

The Idaho High School Activities Association (IHSAA) oversees high school athletics in the state of Idaho. Idaho high schools are classified in five categories based on their enrollment. Generally speaking but not necessarily, schools compete against other schools in their own classification. Playoffs and championships are based on these classifications as well:

IHSAA classifications are as follows:

5A - enrollment of 1,280 or more
4A - enrollment of 640 to 1,279
3A - enrollment of 320 to 639
2A - enrollment of 160 to 319
1A - enrollment of less than 159

The IHSAA is based in Boise.
