Ida Dalser
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ida Irene Dalser (1880 – 11 December 1937) was a beautician from Sopramonte, near Trento, which then was part of Austria-Hungary. Benito Mussolini married her in Milan in 1914 at the start of World War I. In 1915 Ida Dalser gave birth to Benito Albino Mussolini, who Mussolini accepted as his son. After Mussolini had risen to power in 1922, fascist agents sought to erase all traces of the relationship. Ida Dalser died in 1937 of a "brain haemorrhage" at an asylum on the Venetian island of San Clemente. Benito Albino died in 1942 at an asylum in Milan.
The suppressed story of Irene Dalser and Benito Albino Mussolini was uncovered by Italian journalist Marco Zeni and published in two books: L'ultimo filò and La moglie di Mussolini.
