Talk:Ice hockey country
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A couple of the states on the list, including Ohio, Illinois (even the Hurricanes, who play in Raleigh, get better attendance than the Chicago Black Hawks), and Colorado, are questionable. You have to look at the places where a sizable part of the population not only consider themselves hockey fans (keep in mind that the Dallas Stars have a strong fanbase, but nobody calls Texas a part of hockey country) but also regularly play it in youth and adult leagues and send a few players to the NHL.--Bjeversole (who certainly knows enough not to put North Carolina down as part of hockey country) 11:44, 10 January 2006 (UTC).
- And you can call me crazy too, but from what I've seen first-hand, California has a formidable hockey fanbase and minor hockey market too. -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 01:45, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] College
I think it's worth mentioning that the NCAA colleges in these states are the only ones that play ice hockey competitively and it's such an inclusive group to the point that small schools (Brown) play large schools (Michigan) and are actually formidable opponents to each other, where as this wouldn't be worth mention if the sport were football or basketball.--Attitude2000 03:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
