The airline was established in 2002 and began operations on February 27, 2003 with daily flights to London and Copenhagen. Hello operates all services on behalf of Iceland Express. Services were formerly operated by Astraeus and then JetX Airlines. Iceland Express is owned by Fons Eignarhaldsfelag.

The Iceland Express fleet consists of three 150-168 seat McDonnell Douglas MD-90 (at May 2006) operated by Swiss charter company, Hello AG based in Basel, Swiss under the name of Fly Hello.
