Ice Age (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ice Age was a progressive band from New York, USA.

Founded by guitarist Jimmy Pappas, vocalist/keyboardist Josh Pincus, drummer Hal Aponte and bassist Arron DiCesare, the band released their debut album in 1999. Titled The Great Divide, it was nearly 75 minutes in length and featured a mix of progressive experimentation and pop elements. Liberation followed in 2001, both on Magna Carta Records.

Ice Age are influenced by pop/progressive bands such as Yes, Kansas and Rush, but also by more modern progressive metal bands like Queensryche, and Dream Theater.[1]

While not particularly successful in the United States, the band has, like many neo-progressive groups, found some success in European markets and has toured there, [2]

In recent years the band experienced several line-up changes, culminating in their abandonment of the Ice Age moniker and the adoption of the name Soulfractured. This incarnation of the band features three of four original members, and plays a harder, more straightforward genre of progressive rock. They continue to release EPs through their homepage(s), though they are currently not signed to any record label.
