[edit] History
IceBB's lead developer (MutantMonkey) was an avid Invision Power Board (IPB) user until September 27, 2004 when Invision Power Services revoked its "unlimited trial." With the end of the trial, many IPB modification developers started work on their own message board software systems.
Development of IceBB began on October 4, 2004 and the first public version (Alpha 1) was released on November 13, 2004. It is the only known system to survive the mass of systems started when the free IPB download was removed by utilizing the popularity of one of MutantMonkey's earlier IPB modification website, Kenka, to demonstrate the use of an IPB alternative.
On January 9, 2006, IceBB was submitted to SourceForge after a decision was made to change from its custom license to the GPL. It was accepted on January 10.
