Ice-water separation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ice-water separation method is a technique for seperating the tetrahydrocannabinol laden trichomes from the marijuana plant so as to produce hash.

Ice Water Extraction Method EU patent # 1015118 Canadian patent # 232 1815 The Ice Water method is simple as it is effective and allows fresh material to be processed. While traditional processing requires the plant material to be dried and broken up to access the resin on the inner surfaces of the plant, with the Ice Water method no drying or grinding is necessary since in the ice water environment plant material becomes flexible after soaking. It stays intact and small fiborous particles are not introduced in the process. The resin however becomes hard and brittle at ice water temperatures, and can easily and completely be separated. Well described in 1998 May issue of High Times A giant improvement for agricultural processing. Now large quantities of pure resins could be extracted in a very clean process without the use of solvents.
