Ibusuki, Kagoshima

Ibusuki (指宿市: Ibusuki-shi) is a city in Kagoshima, Japan, that was founded on April 1, 1954.
Following the incorporation of Kaimon and Yamagawa (two towns formerly belonging to Ibusuki District) on January 1, 2006, the city has an estimated population of 47,583 and a population density of 320 persons per km² (based on 2003 population statistics). It covers 148.88 km² and shares a border with Ei, a town to its north.
Ibusuki can be accessed by Routes 226 and 269 and the Ibusuki Skyline drive. The city also has a railroad station.
Ibusuki is famous for black-sand spas known as sunamushi onsen.
Ibusuki has a sister city relationship with Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.
