Ibrahim Muteferrika

Ibrahim Muteferrika (1674-1742) was a Transylvanian-born Ottoman printer, the first Muslim to run a printing press with movable Arabic type. The press was operated in Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire, publishing its first book in 1729.
An ethnic Hungarian born in Kolozsvár (present-day Cluj-Napoca, Romania), he was a Hungarian Unitarian who converted to Islam. His original Hungarian language name is unknown.
