Ibn Abu al-Iz

Ibn Abu al-Iz (731 AH-792 AH) (Arabic: ابن أبي العز) Imam Sadru-Deen Ali ibn Abu al-Iz - Hanafi scholar.

He comes from a family that has been strong supporter of the Hanafi schools. Most of his family members, like himself, were judges. He was a teacher of that madhhab for a long period of time, then he became the Qadi (judje) of Hanafis in Damascus.

He wrote a book on Aqidah of Imam Tahawi. His explanation Sharh al-Aqidah al-Tahawiya has been further explained, abridged, and commented by many other scholars.
