Ian Michael Smith (born May 5, 1987) is an American actor, best known for his starring role in Simon Birch. His short physical stature (3'1") is a result of Morquio syndrome.

He was originally considered for the lead role in The Mighty, but was considered too young by producer Harvey Weinstein (Kieran Culkin eventually took the role.) Ian has undergone several operations including a spinal fusion and two bilateral osteotomies. He also has a brother, Brian. In 2005, he enrolled as an undergraduate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
