Ian Douglas Macdonald (born 29 November 1945), Australian politician, has been a Liberal member of the Australian Senate since July 1990, representing Queensland. He was born in Brisbane, Queensland, and was a solicitor before entering politics. He was a member of the Burdekin Shire Council 1979-90.

Macdonald was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Environment 1996-98, Minister for Regional Services, Territories and Local Government 1998-2001 and Minister for Forestry and Conservation 2001-02, and has been Minister for Fisheries, Forestry and Conservation since November 2002. In January 2006, it was reported that Macdonald would not be given a ministerial position following the Cabinet reshuffle triggered by the retirement of Robert Hill, and he confirmed this to the media on January 22, 2006 [1].
