Ian Davies

Ian Davies (born 1963 in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, United Kingdom) is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive of BackAndLay.com Limited, the private limited UK company which owns the Internet betting exchange which trades as Backandlay. He was formerly a racing and sports betting journalist, having worked for Raceform, the Racing & Football Outlook, The Guardian, The Sporting Life, the Racing Post, TODAY, The Independent, The Independent On Sunday, and BBC Grandstand.

Davies received a Comprehensive school education before obtaining a degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of Warwick.
He grew up in Denton, Greater Manchester, Newcastle-under-Lyme, near Stoke-on-Trent, Sheffield, Kingston upon Hull, and Coventry before moving to London, where he lived for 18 years in the East End.
Davies now resides - and his business is based - in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Davies is married with one child.

Since moving to Basingstoke, Davies has taken a progressively active interest in Basingstoke Town F.C., his local football club.
In September 2006, Davies was elected Chairman of the Basingstoke Town F.C. Supporters’ Club.
Basingstoke Town FC is currently in the non-league Conference South, two divisions below league status and five divisions below the top flight in English football.
