"I Melt With You" is a song by the British post-punk/New Wave band Modern English. The song, produced by Hugh Jones, was a single from the 1982 album After the Snow. While never reaching the Top 40 (its highest position was #76, which it reached with a July 1990 rerelease), the song gained popularity due to its airplay on MTV in early 1983 and its inclusion in the movie Valley Girl. The band re-recorded it in 1990 for their album Pillow Lips.
The song is often mistakenly attributed to the The Cure.

In addition to being featured in the movie Valley Girl, "I Melt With You" was used in a Burger King commercial in the late 1990s. Saves The Day covered it on their "I'm Sorry I'm Leaving" EP. It was also covered by two punk bands for two different movies; by Mest for the 2001 film Not Another Teen Movie, and by Bowling for Soup for the 2005 film Sky High, as well as being covered by Good Riddance on their 2002 album Cover Ups. In 2006, the original version of the song was used in a Ritz crackers commercial, as well as being covered on a Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine 2006 Christmas album Silent Nightclub. One more recent cover of the song was on the 2005 cover compilation album entitled Punk Goes 80's, this version performed by the group Sugarcult.
In 2004 French bossa nova group Nouvelle Vague released a version with Silja as the featured singer on their eponymous album Nouvelle Vague.
