I Love You For Sentimental Reasons is the name of a 1995 single by British pop group Five Star, peaking at UK #84 in July of that year and becoming their first single for more than five years without the help of any record labels, except their own, Tent Records Inc.
It was the group's first release for five years, and saw the group mature and change direction musically, making a R'n'B version of the classic Nat King Cole song, which was released in the UK and the US at the same time. The video was slated as it showed a female member of the band having her toe sucked by her boyfriend in the bath! The video also shows a heavily pregnant Denise, their lead singer. The video was directed by former Cosby Show star Malcolm-Jamal Warner.
The album from which it came, Heart And Soul, was released in November 1995, and it was a change from their usual brand of pop, instead opting for a more mature, R'n'B sound, which came as a surprise to fans and critics alike. The critics actually liked it and said that Five Star's absence in recent years, and moving to California in the US had actually done them a favour, because they had bettered themselves, both musically and physically.
