I Got the Fire

"I Got the Fire" is a song from the Montrose album Paper Money in 1974. While many consider the album to be an inferior follow up to their debut the previous year, this song stands out as a great song with a riff reminiscent of Led Zeppelin's Black Dog. It is said that this is the only song from that album to maintain the seething incendiary energy from the band's debut album. There is also an interesting story behind the solo:
"Guitarist Ronnie Montrose also contributes a solo of singular dexterity and earth-shaking intensity thanks, ironically, to a studio screwup which resulted in the bottom-heavy reverberating noise in its intro." [1]
The song was also covered by Iron Maiden. [2]
This was one of the last collaborations between Ronnie Montrose and singer Sammy Hagar before Hagar left the band to pursue a solo career.
