I Get Around was the second single from Tupac Shakur's second album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.. In contrast to Keep Ya Head Up, I Get Around is a no-holds barred attack to women he had dealt with since his rise to fame:
ehh yo bust it, baby got a problem saying bye bye, just another hazard of a fly guy. You ask why, it don't matter, My pockets got fatter, now everybody's looking for the latter.
[edit] Criticism
It received negative responses as it was a very sexist song, and many felt it indicated Tupac didn't respect women, despite songs like "Keep Ya Head Up" (and later "Dear Mama") which showed genuine concern and respect for them. Tupac himself stated that he didn't make America like that, but that he showed what the real world was like.
[edit] Commercial Success
The song did well on the commercial level as it peaked #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it got a gold status.
The song was released on 2Pac's Greatest Hits album in 1998.
[edit] Trivia
The song was originally supposed to appear on Digital Underground's new album; however, leader Shock G gave it to Tupac to put on his CD.
The Music Video made #16 on XXL's and MTV2's "25 Greatest West Coast Videos".
